YOU CHOOSE & RAA

RAA and YOU CHOOSE share a strong commitment to empowering young Australians with the mindset, values, and agency to make safer decisions on our roads. In 2017, RAA invited YOU CHOOSE co-founders Peter and Melissa McGuinness to deliver their lived experience presentation at Street Smart High RAA’s flagship road safety event for high school students. Their message, grounded in personal loss and purpose driven leadership, left a lasting impression on students, educators, and road safety stakeholders alike.

It demonstrated the profound impact of storytelling in shifting behaviour moving beyond statistics to emotional connection. The invitation was a pivotal moment in the early development of YOU CHOOSE, reinforcing its unique role in national road safety education and affirming the value of compassion, accountability and leadership as tools for long-term cultural change.

YOU CHOOSE / RAA

Driving Cultural Change Through Education

RAA and YOU CHOOSE recognise that true road safety extends beyond rules and enforcement—it requires a shift in culture. By engaging students with authentic storytelling and values-based leadership, YOU CHOOSE challenges harmful social norms and replaces them with accountability and empathy. RAA’s long-standing commitment to community education complements this approach, creating opportunities for shared impact. Together, they champion a future where young people understand their influence and lead their peers toward safer, more responsible choices.

Empowering Youth Through Real-World Impact

Both RAA and YOU CHOOSE understand that young people respond to more than just instruction—they respond to meaning. By combining RAA’s reach in community road safety with YOU CHOOSE’s emotionally driven, peer-focused approach, the message becomes personal and lasting. Together, they reinforce the idea that every choice behind the wheel carries real-world consequences. This alignment strengthens a culture where leadership, self-respect and responsibility aren’t abstract ideals—they’re everyday actions that protect lives.
